Yes, it’s been a minute. A few minutes, in fact. But we here on Team Duplex Planet are circling back around finally to give you a sitrep!
As you probably know, our film-in-progress, Beyond The Duplex Planet, tells the story of artist David Greenberger and his lifelong exploration of conversation, aging, and the ties that bind us. His quirky long-running publication, The Duplex Planet, evolved into all sorts of projects – books of poetry, comics, recordings and live spoken word shows with music. It’s some of the most thought-provoking stuff you’ll ever encounter. Humorous, heartfelt, human.
Editor extraordinaire Emily von W. Gilbert and I have had a really gratifying time getting the film to this stage. Kudos to Emily for successfully mining the embarrassment of riches we have on hand, thanks to David’s extensive personal archives.

From this vantage point, we can now see what else needs to happen to finish Beyond The Duplex Planet. This includes a few more key interviews, a “black box theater” performance by David and chief collaborator Tyson Rogers, graphics, music and archival footage clearances, a sound mix and color correction.
Our goal is to raise $33,000 in the next few months. We’d love to finish this film in early 2024 and start submitting to festivals and other decision-makers soon after that. To reach our goal we are prepared to launch one final (really!) Kickstarter campaign, if need be. But if there’s a chance you might be able to help us get to the finish line without that (!?), your donations would be deeply appreciated.
